What is considered to be a sequel to the original "Jurassic Park", "Jurassic World", has broken a record for the most revenue earned worldwide in an opening weekend.
We waited to report until we knew the exact amount of the opening weekend revenue. As of Monday, Jurassic World successfully earned $524.1 million worldwide during it's opening weekend. Domestically, Jurassic World earned $208.8 million.
The movie, which stars the hot Chris Pratt, was long-awaited since it was originally announced; the movie has been featured in various locations and establishments with sponsorships and products all over the country. Walmart's entrance features advertisements of the movie, it has its own DQ blizzard at Dairy Queen, and it seems fans are just as in love with this movie as they were 20 years ago with the original motion picture.
Jurassic World has broken various records. Never before, has a film grossed over $500 million in a single weekend. The previous record for the most revenue earned in an opening weekend was held by "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II". It's domestic revenue is also a record breaker. The last record was held by "The Avengers" in 2012, which earned $207.4 million. Jurassic World also breaks the record for the movie with the most revenue earned in the month of June, a record previously held by "Man of Steel" in 2013; it earned $116.6 million.
Prior to Jurassic World, the Jurassic Park franchise had an already exiting three movies, "Jurassic Park", "The Lost World: Jurassic Park", and "Jurassic Park III". Of the three movies, the highest grossing was "The Lost World: Jurassic Park", which earned in $127.6 million; it was also the last movie of the franchise to be directed by Steven Spielberg. However, much to the fan's pleasure, Steven Spielberg sat in as an executive producer for Jurassic world.
