American Horror Story Season 1 Review 5/5

Ok, so we know we are not the only ones scrolling past American Horror Story on Netflix unsure of committing to a new series, however, this is one show you must try, season one at least.

American Horror Story is designed as a series, which recycles its actors into different stories comprised by season. While we are not a fan of season two, season one was just amazingly fun, scary, and engrossing. The tale starts of with a semi-dysfunctional family unit of three - a cheating father, a uniquely unimpressed teen, and a sweet wife trying to make it all work in their newly purchased 1920's Victorian home hiding deadly secrets.

In this season we meet Tate, a seemingly sweet yet disturbed boy who falls in love with the daughter of the new tenants of the house, Violet. Her dad, Dr. Ben Harmon, treats Tate in his home office for his psychotic visions and thoughts. As their relationships progress Tate becomes increasingly dependent on Violet's love, and secrets about his true identity are revealed.

We also meet the intrusive neighbor next door, Constance, mother of a child with Down Syndrome, Adelaide, who often sneaks into the Harmon's house and tells them "They are going to die in there". Constance isn't much different; often letting herself into the Harmon home, she barks orders at their maid Moira who incidentally has a very long history with Constance, for which the latter will make her suffer for. Aside from Adelaide, Constance has three other children who are explosively revealed later on.

Sweet Vivien (Mrs. Harmon), spends her days mourning her miscarriage, blaming her husband and reminding him of his infidelities, while Mr. Harmon struggles to keep Moira from seducing him with feminine wiles only he can see.

We must tell you without giving away too much that many have died here in the Harmon home, from the original owners to.... ah, but we can't say much more. What we can say is that out of a cast of more than 30, 26 have died in this dreadful house; all of which, still live here.

As the season progresses viewers will be completely immersed in a storyline that is true to phantom rules ghost-lovers will appreciate. From their behaviors to their relationships, there are twists and turns at every corner and no one is who they appear to be, leaving the viewer guessing on who's who of what realm.

We give season 1 5/5 stars because it was original, it had a great storyline, and the ending was pleasantly bittersweet.
