Amber Heard & Johnny Depp Reach $10 Million Settlement
Amber Heard and Johnny Depp have reportedly reached a $10 million settlement for their divorce 18 months after the marriage began. After allegations of domestic violence, Heard took to the courts to dissolve their toxic marriage, and a settlement was finally reached after video recordings (The Mirror) of Depp's irate and uncontrollable rage surfaced in the media. Shortly after Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman was recaptured (NPR) by Mexican authorities after escaping prison and leading them on a 6 month fugitive chase, his son, Ivan Guzman, reportedly took over his father's heroin empire, The Sinaloa Cartel. It was reported yesterday that Ivan was one of the 6 individuals kidnapped (Daily Mail) by a rival Mexican gang, The Jalisco New Generation Cartel in a resort onOlympic Athletes Flee Rio & won't Stay for Closing Ceremonies
Following chaotic reports of Rio's inability to have athlete quarters ready and rampant crime in the city which led to the armed robbery of American Olympic Swimmer Ryan Lochte (CNN) and kidnapping of New Zealand Jiu Jitsu Sportsman Jason Lee (BBC), both of which were by criminals dressed as police officers, Olympic athletes have decided to leave Rio (Daily Mail) in a massive Exodus after finishing their final matches and returning to their home countries, no word on whether many athletes will remain for closing ceremonies.This year's Olympic Games has been called the worst in history, boasting a plethora of empty audience seating (FT), murky green swimming pools (Yahoo Sports), the Zika Virus epidemic threat (Telegraph), rampant crime in the city against Athletes and Security (Boston Globe), and the city's inability to have athlete quarters ready in time (SB Nation), leading many athletes to obtain accommodations in specially reserved Norwegian Cruise ships (Chicago Tribune) instead of the Athlete Village.
