5 Signs you May be Pregnant

Here are 8 simple signs that may mean you are pregnant. If you are here, its probably because you think you are pregnant but haven't taken a pregnancy test yet, or have taken one and it came out negative; leaving you still with doubts. Let us help.

Signs of pregnancy can manifest as early as a few days after conception. While a pregnancy test may tell you if you are pregnant, it usually cannot do so unless it has been at least 3 weeks after conception, when the HCG hormones levels are high enough in your system to be detected by a home pregnancy test. The surest way to know early is to take a blood test at a qualified physicians office, OBGYN, or women's health clinic.

1. Breast Tenderness

Breast tenderness can manifest as early as two days after conception and usually consists of the sides of your breasts and nipples being tender. The mammary canals that will transport breast milk through your breasts for your baby are located in these areas, as your body changes, your breasts will adapt to the coming of a dependent child.

Your areolas will get darker and your nipples may become erect sporadically.

2. Morning Sickness

While this is common during the first stages of pregnancy, some women may not experience morning sickness. However, one sign that you may be pregnant is the frequent vomiting spells you experience in the morning or after eating certain foods that seem gross after you eat them. This can happen even if you are accustom to eating these foods.

Some women may experience morning sickness for one pregnancy but not for another. Every pregnancy is different, and each one of your babies will react differently to foods and smells.

3. Fatigue and Fainting Spells

During the first trimester, women can become increasingly tired and often feel like they need a nap midday. This is normal, and you should rest as much as you can to prepare for baby. However, if you are unsure if you are pregnant, this can be an early sign that you are and can manifest itself with the first month or so.

Many women also experience fainting spells and feeling weak. A funny example of this is often seen in Spanish television novelas, where the cliffhanger episode ends in one of the female cast members fainting. This is usually a sign to viewers that interesting things are to come and that there may be a baby on the way. It is much the same in real life.

4. Mood Swings

As your baby grows, your body changes and your hormone levels will also change, causing you to become irate one minute, and sad the next. The first few weeks of pregnancy are notorious for this and this is the time when your body really starts to change.

5. Hunger

After conception, you may be normal in your eating habits for the first 3-4 weeks, however, once month two rolls in, you may start craving different foods. If not, most likely your food intake will increase as you keep the same eating routine. You will still want to eat the same things you always have, but more of it.

These are a few of the earlier signs of pregnancy, which can manifest within the first month or two. To know for sure, you should visit your doctor for a blood test which is the most accurate way of knowing.
