Travel to Europe: 3 Ancient Sites to Visit

Europe is a dream destination for most families especially those with children who can already appreciate culture, arts and history; we have compiled a list of 3 ancient sites to visit when you travel to Europe.

There are three European destinations that should be in the bucket list of travelers wanting to explore historical sites:

Hadrian's Wall

Hadrian's Wall was a military structure built by Emperor Hadrian in AD 122. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is a very wholesome, family tourist destination located in North England. Families can hike, bike around, and children can enjoy interactive historic displays and museums around the area, like the Roman Army Museum.
Hadrian's Wall is now owned by the National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty, and interested visitors can learn more about the site and tour information by reaching them at the following number: +44 870 333 1181.

The last time we checked, tickets were available for children, adults, and even in a family package deal for 4 members; two adults and two children. Ticket prices for adults are set at £10.50 for the two attractions, and for children, it is set at £6.00 per. For families, the tickets for both venues can be bought for just £ 32.00.

There are hotels, bed & breakfast places, caravan, camping sites, and back-packers' inns to cater to the needs and budget of all travelers. One of the more popular inns in the area is the Red Lions Inn which provides a charming and picturesque accommodation (imagine burning log fires, comfortable chairs, and a well-stocked bar). It takes pride in the wonderful hearty English breakfasts and meals they provide for their patrons, plus their huge selection of ale; and English must.

Battlesteads Restaurant is one of the most famous dining places in the area. It prepares a wonderful menu from fresh and local ingredients. It is located at Wark, Hexham, Northumberland, contact number is: +44 (0)1434 230209

The Pantheon

One of the more popular roman destinations, The Pantheon was a religious monument that was built using architectural techniques that were ahead of their time. Its architecture comprises of a series of arches, and intersecting details that fascinate just about everyone. It can be found at the Piazza Della Rotunda, in Rome, Italy. It is open to tourists from 8AM to 7:30 in the evening,  operators can be reached through +39 06 6830 0230.

The administrators of these historical sites have mastered combo packs in regards to their ticketing process. Combo packages to tourist destinations are being offered to tourists to avoid long lines and save up on time. For instance, a tour of the Colosseum, Palatine Museum, and Roman Forum will be combined into a "Combo Ticket" that will cost around €16.00 inclusive of the online booking assistance that provides tourists with the convenience of not having to queue.

Since Rome is a very famous tourist destination, hotels, bed and breakfasts and backpackers’ Inns are plentiful. It is just a matter of choosing your preferred location. One of the nearest to The Pantheon is the Di Rienzo Pantheon Palace, which is located at:

Via Dei Redentoristi 14
Pantheon, 00186 Rome, Italy

Cravings for authentic Italian Pizza and Pasta can be had at one of the most popular restaurants in the area: La Gensola, piazza Gensola 5, Phone: 06/58332758.

The Parthenon

This edifice in Greece was built in 447 BC in honor of Goddess Athena. It is now a very popular European destination that attracts a lot of tourism traffic for Greece. The people of Athens consider Athena as their Patron Saint, hence this temple built to worship her. The iconic columns make it one of the most popular tourist attractions in the area.

Half day tours in the area, which includes an Athens city tour, starts at around €50.00 per person.

The base ticketing area is located in Athens, and tours are operated by the Greek government. For more information on these tours, you can contact the tour administrators at the following number: +30 21 0321 4172.

One of the top-rated hotels in the area is Athens Hotel Plaka, which can be reached via telephone at, +30 2103222706. It is within walking distance from tourism destinations like the Acropolis, Museums, and shopping destinations. It even has a great view of the Acropolis.

We found that one of the most popular restaurants in the area serving traditional Greek food, is the Arcadia Restaurant along Makrygianni St., just opposite the Acropolis Museum.
