Love, Rosie Movie Review

LOVE, ROSIE

Lifetimes will go by until we feel like someone, somewhere, has made a movie to represent our whole life of a solar system type of relationship with another human being; Love, Rosie, is that movie.

Absolutely engulfing, this story travels the lifespans of Rosie and Alex, two young adults who have been best friends since childhood that have missed the course of falling in love each time they get a chance to declare it. Dashing, sweet, and constant, Alex plays the role of Rosie's "forever man"; he'll always be there, and he'll show up when you need him the most, even when you haven't quite grasped that you do. Alex has been her "fall back guy" for years, and has loved every part of her ever since; sometimes as a sister, other times as the most amazing woman he's ever laid eyes on.

Rosie, bubbly, spirited, jealous, and as much of a part of him as his own heart, plays the role of Alex's best friend who plans on following him to Boston to discover the world, as they had planned to do for so many years. But circumstances prevent this from happening, separating them with the Atlantic Ocean for what seems like forever. Yet, although they are on separate continents, Alex still always finds a way to be in her heart, mind, and even shows up at her doorstep unexpectedly when she's longing for his shoulder.

The audience will get lost in the movie's story, and fall in love with these two and their fleeting many "almost" moments, while face-palming with every wayward decision they make along the way.

Complete with the barrier of another man from Rosie's past while Alex is moving forward with a
woman from his present, the two just keep missing each other. And each time one comes to the realization that they need one another, the other happens to be in a very happy place moving forward.

Like the sun chasing the moon, and the moon struggling to reach the sun, this movie features two people who spend their entire 20s missing each other, involving themselves with people they know won't compare to the other.

This movie gets 5 stars from us. The indie style is just what you'll need when you're trying to make sense of your life, and the characters are as unique and crazy as the people in your real life circle. We recommend this movie to:

  • Anyone who has experienced a first love that never seems to dwindle in their heart, and has always struggled with being in the "same place" as the other person.
  • Women who have that "best friend", who is absolutely everything to them and is the only one who can mend their sorrows, make everything right, and sometimes even manages to fix things even the boyfriend can't fix.
  • Men who get themselves in relationships they know will go nowhere, simply because they're trying to make up for not being able to have the woman that they know should be theirs.
  • Anyone who sometimes sits and reflects on how their life came to be and tries to make sense of it all, while always remembering that one person who just drifted away because of life's circumstances.
Most women will have an Alex in their life at one point or another, our advice is, if you know you have an Alex, love him with everything you have in your heart to give. The chances are that he will always love you, and has been giving you everything he's got just the wipe away your tears and see you smile.
