The royal couple
celebrating their 4th year
wedding anniversary is not only focused on one important event, but also the excitement
of the birth of their second baby, which is expected to be born today. Time flies so fast indeed! The Duke of
Cambridge Prince William and Catherine “Kate” Middleton were engaged on October
20, 2010 and married on April 29, 2011 at the festive ceremony at Westminster
Abbey; most can’t believe that it has
been four years since that joyous occasion and that another baby is on the way.
The royal couple who met
in 2001 and announced their engagement in November 2010, attracted
everyone’s attention, not only in the realm but across the nations. The occasion
was a public holiday in The United Kingdom: over 5, 000 street parties were
held in the United Kingdom, one million people witnessed the event outside
Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace, and millions of viewers tuned in on
television, YouTube, and coverage which has made the royal wedding a worldwide
phenomenon.
About 1,900 names were on the guest list: including the bride and the groom’s family, relatives, friends and a significant number of the Commonwealth leaders. An estimated $34 million to $70 million USD were used to finance the event, with Kate’s parents contributing £10 million and Prince Charles contributing £1 million.
1.2 to 6 billion Euros
were said to be the cost of the historic event of the United Kingdom which
transpires across continents.
The details of the anniversary
celebration have been kept from the public. It has been said that the royal
couple was seen on their anniversary, leaving their home in Kensington Palace
in the late morning with their son Prince George. The Duchess of Cambridge, mom
was said to be the one driving the Range Rover and his dad on the passenger seat
side. The royal family was heading to Westminster City to spend the special day
at Buckingham Palace according to hearsay.
Excitement is enhanced
surrounding the anniversary, as the duchess is overdue to give birth to their
second child. The Duchess, who was supposedly expecting her child on April 23
(due date) together with her royal family, spent the anniversary days at
Buckingham Palace swimming with her 21-month-old son Prince George. Despite tight
mouth-zipped palace sources, this piece of information has seeped out from the
palace walls. Sources quoted that Kate Middleton has always been a regular
visitor of the Buckingham Palace for her regular swimming lessons with her son
Prince George, who is inevitable going to be an older brother in the next few
hours or days even though the birth is taking longer than expected.
Meanwhile, the royal
couple has sent breakfast meals to the lovely people who have been camping
outside the hospital waiting for the birth of the new royal baby. These
Superfans were spending the nights outside the private Lindo Wing at St. Mary's
Hospital in Paddington in central London. At around 9:00 am this, morning, these Superfans
were surprised by members of the royal household handing them ten cups of
coffee, two boxes of croissants, and Danish pastries which were said to be fastened
with pink ribbon. The royal couple, however, confirmed that the pink ribbon was
just a coincidence; not indicating the gender of their soon-to-be-born second
royal baby.
